Please note that this is not a kit, and we do not provide sampling supplies. You are placing an order for a prepaid laboratory test of construction material (except vermiculite) for asbestos. You need to send your samples to our laboratory in London, Ontario, Canada. When we test your sample, we use the Polarized Light Microscopy technique and point count technique as described in the method EPA 600/R-93/116. Asbestos concentration can be measured with a sensitivity of 0.5% or 0.1% by weight to comply with the regulations of your province. Your order includes laboratory analysis and a formal report that will be sent to you by email. To place your order, please select the number of samples you are submitting for analysis, the sensitivity we need to achieve, and the turnaround time.

Description

It is easy to check your house for asbestos, and it will definitely make your future renovation project much safer.  Simply select a number of samples that you want to test, and place your order.

Take a small piece of material that you want to test for Asbestos and place it in a Ziploc bag. You need only about 5-20 g of material, this is about the size of a teaspoon. It does not have to be exact amount, and it can be one piece or crumbs. It is all good. Place the sample into the bag, close it, and label the bag with a permanent marker: “Ceiling paint from kids’ bedroom”, or “Yellow flooring from kitchen”. If you want to test more than one sample, each sample should be placed in a separate bag. Please take as many samples as you need, label each bag. Count number of samples, and select corresponding number of tests.

Once the package with your samples is ready, please:

  1. Print  or wright down for us your order number, and place it into a box/envelope with your samples
  2. Send or deliver the samples and the paperwork to our laboratory

When you take a sample, presume the worst and protect yourself from asbestos. Asbestos is the most toxic when you inhale it. To be safe and “just in case”, you should wear N100 or P100 dust mask.
