DIY Residential Air Sampling Kit (Rental – Return Required)
This kit lets homeowners collect their own indoor air samples for asbestos and other fibers. It includes a calibrated air pump (1‑month rental), PCM cassettes, and simple instructions. Each sampling runs for 24 hours per room, using one cassette per room. The analysis detects all fiber types—asbestos, glass, cellulose, and paper dust. If the total fiber concentration is below 0.01 ff/cc, the air meets Ontario’s asbestos clearance level for residential safety.
After sampling, return the pump and cassettes to our laboratory:

Description
Concentrations of airborne fibers in residential environments are generally expected to be below 0.010 fibers per cubic centimeter (ff/cc). Results at or under this level are considered a strong indicator of asbestos air safety in your home. A reading of 0.010 ff/cc or lower means you are in compliance with the asbestos clearance level, which is the regulated threshold for residual asbestos fibers following asbestos removal.
If your results exceed 0.010 ff/cc, additional steps should be taken to reduce dust levels in the home. If dust reduction is not feasible, or if you suspect the presence of asbestos, please contact us to arrange retesting of high‑volume air samples using Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). Additional fees apply.
