Asbestos Fibres in Air. Sampling kit and laboratory test by TEM

The air sampling kit includes several air sampling cassettes, a sampling pump, and a sampling instruction, which can be seen here.  Please note that the cassettes and the pump should be returned for analysis to our laboratory in London, Ontario, Canada within a month from this order.  The samples will be analyzed using Transition Electron Microscopy as described in a  standard method NIOSH 7402, which is the same procedure that we offer to professional asbestos abatement companies.  In this top-of-the-line analysis, asbestos fibers are detected using a high-power electron microscope and identified using electron diffraction spectroscopy. The standard turnaround time for this test is 15 business days from the time when we receive the samples.

The price includes a 1-month rental of the kit, prepaid laboratory analysis, and a laboratory report. Please remember to check the shipping tab for more information.

You laboratory report will show concentration of asbestos fibers in air expressed in fibers per centimeter cube (ff/cc). Generally speaking, the lower concentration of fires in air, the better is quality of air in your house. The following reference numbers will help you to decide if you house requires additional cleaning:

0.010 ff/cc – maximum allowable concentration of asbestos fibers after professional asbestos removal (Ontario Asbestos Regulation)

0.040 ff/cc – maximum concentration of asbestos fibers in ambient air (ONTARIO’S AMBIENT AIR QUALITY CRITERIA, 2012)

0.100 ff/cc  maximum allowable concentration of asbestos fibers during renovation or any work that may involve asbestos (Ontario Asbestos Regulation)
