You are purchasing a laboratory analysis—not a DIY kit. You will need to collect approximately 1/4 teaspoon of old paint place it in a ziploc bag, and either deliver or ship the samples to our laboratory at:

This test measures the concentration of lead in old paint and report it in units of mg/kg.
Lead was widely used in residential paints until the mid-1980s. If you’re planning renovations in an older home, it is important to ensure that the existing paint is lead-free.
Your samples will be analysed in our laboratory in London Ontario, Canada, using X-Ray Fluorescent analysis usin EPA 6200 method. A formal report will be sent to you by email.
How to submit your sample:
– Scrape approximately 1/8 teaspoon (about 0.5 g) of loose paint into a Ziploc bag.
– Do not mix different paint types or colours in one bag.
– Label each bag clearly (e.g., “Living Room wall”, “Window frame”).
– Select the number of samples you would like to test when placing your order.

Threshold Values for Lead in Paint
Less than 89 mg/kg This level represents a negligible lead concentration. Trace amounts like this are commonly found in modern paints due to raw material impurities.
90–4,999 mg/kg This range is typically considered low‑risk as long as the paint is intact and not peeling. • Use a P100 respirator when disturbing or removing the paint. • Additional laboratory testing may be required to determine whether the waste can be safely and legally disposed of.
5,000 mg/kg and above Paint at or above this concentration is classified as “lead‑based paint.” • Professional lead abatement is recommended. • Removal, containment, and disposal must follow applicable provincial and federal regulations.
