This laboratory test measures concentration of mold spores on the surface of your sample. Please not that this is not a DIY or sampling kit, and you need to bring or send your sample to our laboratory in London, Ontario, Canada.
During the test we collect mold spore and hyphal from the surface of your sample and stain them with lactophenol blue. We identify 12 types of mold and measure their concentration on the surface. The results can be used for assessment of water damage or identify potential source of allergies. The fee includes laboratory analysis and formal report, which will be sent to you by email.

Description
Once we receive your samples, we test them in our laboratory in London, Ontario, and report you mold concentration on the surface of your sample and what types of mold spores are present. Your report will show individual concentrations of 12 types of mold:
Alternaria
Ascospores
Aspergillus/Penicillium-like
Basidiospores
Chaetomium
Cladosporium
Curvularia
Drechslera/Bipolaris-like
Smuts/Myxomycetes/Periconia
Stachybotrys/Memnoniella (Black Mold)
Ulocladium
Hyphal fragments
Miscellaneous/Unidentifiable

Cut a small piece of mold stained paint, wood, paper, plastic, or plaster, and place it in a Ziploc bag. You need only 1/4 square inch of material, which is about the size of a coin. It does not have to be exact amount, but we need a piece with some flat area to work with. Label the bag with a permanent marker: “Ceiling paint from kids’ bedroom”, or “Yellow flooring from kitchen”. If you want to test more than one sample, each sample should be placed in a separate bag. Please take as many samples as you need, but please label each bag.
Once the order is ready for shipment and paid:
- Print the payment receipt for your order. It will tell us your contact information, and what you want to test for.
- Place the printed receipt into the box/envelope with your samples
- Send or deliver the samples and the paperwork to our laboratory
